Why should you go all the miles to breastfeed your baby?

Importance of breastfeeding and breastmilk for the baby and the mother.

Following are certain things that I experienced and then searched for scientific facts for the same.

  1. Offering formula in initial days in hospital creates aversion for latching in babies.
  2. Growth spurts are real and babies can nibble for hours so be realistic that after all the process of delivering you may have to sit for hours to feed.
  3. Every mom can agree, the most difficult part is night wakings and feeding. But understanding science behind it gave me strength to continue.
    1. At night Breastmilk has more melatonin that helps baby to sleep and understand sleep patterns like day and night and set circadian rhythm.
    2. It makes baby feel secure, which in long term influences the personality and attitude of baby as an adult.
  4. Breastmilk while giving solids is also very vital as it induces secretion of CCK (hormone) in baby's gut that allows proper digestion of food.
  5. Breastmilk boosts immunity in babies and contains lots of specific antibodies.
  6. Breastmilk influence and establishes healthy gut flora of baby that is linked with overall immunity and neurological developments in adults.
  7. Prolonged breastfeeding makes babies more sensitive and humble as adults and of-course less cranky.
  8. It establishes stable and secure bond with mother which may solve many parenting issues later. Also soothes during teething.

Hope this helps new moms ❣ Happy feeding 🦋 …
